The Color Tribe Q&A:
1. What quote do you (try to) live by?
“Everything happens for a reason.” I feel like in every situation this quote is something I always turn to. There’s no way to control the future, but you can always turn it into something positive and not dwell on things that are out of your control.
2. When did you decide to start your blog, and why?
I believe I was around 17 years old. I’ve been interested in fashion ever since I was a little girl. I wanted to start up my blog as a way to express my own personal style, and I hope to inspire other girls out there.
3. What is your hair morning routine?
I wash my hair every other day. So, when I wake up, I always use dry shampoo and then do some sort of styling whether it’s a top knot, messy beach waves, or a sleek straight look. Whenever I curl my hair, I make sure to use Redken’s Fashion Work 12 hairspray to set my curls so they last all day long.
4. What would your perfect vacation entail?
I would LOVE to go to Bora Bora. It looks so beautiful there, and I love the idea of having the hotels above the water. It seems like such a relaxing and easy trip to do. I would love to go there for a special occasion like my honeymoon, one day.
5. How did you meet Alicia?
I found Alicia’s work on Instagram right after she got back from NYFW about 7 years ago. We have been working together ever since and have formed a really special bond. She is almost like a mentor for me and has always given me such amazing advice towards my Instagram and blog.
6. What hair color would you love to try but you are way too scared to do it?
I would love to go brunette. I think it looks so beautiful, but I could never do it. I’ve spent way too many years achieving this blonde hair color to throw it all away.
7. Resto or cooking?
Resto for sure!! I love meeting up with my besties and going for yummy food at our favorite spots around the city. I go at least 2 times a week! 🙈
8. What goal do you think humanity is not focused enough on achieving?
Human communication for sure. I feel it’s super important to take time everyday away from your phone. I like to do this at dinner time because there is nothing worse that being out with someone in public and they are on their phone the entire time. Human communication is so important, and we’ve become so comfortable with texting that no one likes to call each other anymore. I would way rather call one of my friends or boyfriend than texting.
9. Since when do you color your hair, and what inspired you to start?
I started coloring my hair in elementary school. I think I was in grade 3 when I got my first set of highlights. I would always go to my mom’s hair appointments with her when I was younger, so one day I asked her if I could finally get a few highlights.
10. What is something that is really popular now, but in 5 years everyone will look back on and be embarrassed by?
This question is super hard. I feel like in 5 years maybe the dad shoe trend will be out of style? I personally love this trend and am already on my second pair of Balenciaga Triple S sneakers, but I feel like they could potentially go out of style fairly soon. I’m not really a heels girl though, so I will still wear my sneakers no matter what.
11) What food do you crave most often?
Another hard question… I love sushi so that would probably be my number 1 craving. I love In-N-Out too, but since I don’t have it in Saskatoon, I feel like I’m constantly craving it.
12) Where is your next travel destination?
I am currently in an Uber leaving NYFW, but I will be heading to Vancouver next week to go visit my boyfriend. He goes to school to UBC, so it’s my little home away from home!
