Thermal Spray High Hold

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Was a bit apprehensive trying this, but am happy I did. The hold is pretty strong, which is good but can look a bit weird at first. It's also a bit "crunchy" until you brush through the hair. Curls last a couple days, with going to the gym and brushing and sleeping all in there. Smells good too.

I don't normally curl my hair but I blow dry and straighten it every day. I have wavy/frizzy hair. I dry my hair first then sectioned out my hair, sprayed some of the redken spray on, brushed through then straightened with my flat iron. Then brushed it out again. It made my hair soft and frizz free seemed to add a lot of shine too! Another time I sprayed on wet hair and diffused with blow dryer. Seemed to work ok too! Definitely wasn't as soft doing it that way but held my waves/curls more then not having anything. The smell is not bad either. Smells clean.

I have curly natural hair, so when I do apply heat to it, I want to make sure I use a good heat protectant. In all honesty, this was a nice heat protectant spray. My curls did come back after I washed my hair. It was a little sticky on my hair after spraying it, but I was able to manage. Would I continue using it? Of course, it did what it was supposed to do.

I've used Redken Hot Sets 22 for over 20 years and am freaking out a little right now because I need to restock my bathroom cabinet (I have always bought the large refill bottle and cannot find anymore) The last time I restocked, it had to buy the little bottles which was disappointing. Now I'm seeing that 22 has been discontinued and the new product is not a fan favorite? What's a girl to do? Is there another comparable product? OR, please bring back 22!!!

My bff uses this and her hair is always phenomenal. She recommended this product and I jokingly said, "fine....keep your secrets..." I just didn't believe there was any way that this stuff was the primary reason behind her beautiful hair. So she did my hair for me, using this product, and totally felt bad for doubting her. I just had never seen a "setting mist" do such a phenomenal job at protecting and maintaining the hair's natural silkiness and luster. Usually there is always that layer of slightly stiff hair (kinda feels like straw almost) but with Redken, there isn't a film over your hair that you see or feel...but it's definitely doing something right. Highly recommend!!!

But as I'm growing my hair and I have actual length I'd like for it to be protected from the heat which I style once a week using heat. I've tried this product twice and can't complain. Love the smell and love knowing that it's protecting it from the blow dryer and flat iron. I'm hoping I see more results as I continue to use it.

First, I don't understand the reviews where the reviewer takes their dislike of the product as a personal affront. Not every product made, by any company, will meet everyone's expectations. It's not personal so there is no reason to go to Mach 10 in a review. My opinion on this product is that it isn't good. It sprays unevenly (not a mist) and leaves my hair dry and crunchy. I bought it at the recommendation of the Blowout Professor. His recommendation of Redken shampoo and conditioner has worked well for me. But this product is very disappointing and after 3-4 attempts I realize it will never work for me.

Other products you may not be able to feel. I feel this actually coats the hair and protects it from heat. I flat iron and use an electric blow dry brush and to give it some volume. I feel my hair is protected, but also I get added volume with this product too! I would recommend this product to friends and family.

We towel dryed, sprayed the product throughout our hair and used the dryer with a large round brush.I was surprised how well our hair held the curl. We did not need to use a curling iron or flat iron after drying .The style lasted all day. Be mindful of how much spray you apply, too much will leave hair bit crunchy.

I had been using Hot Sets since my senior prom in 2002 and my hairdresser introduced me to it. I LOVED it! If I curl my hair it goes straight after an hour or two - and that's with hair spray. With Hot Sets I could curl my hair, sleep in it, and it was STILL curly the next day. It was a miracle product! The last few years the formula for this has been slowly watered down and is total garbage now. My hair goes flat in a few hours again. Please Redken, bring back the old formulation. I used to purchase 22 years ago for friends as gifts because I loved it so much. Now, I won't even purchase it for myself. When you bring the old formulation back, I'll be purchasing it in bulk for myself and friends!!!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Usually I'm a fan of redken products. They have a great reputation with salon quality products. But I was disappointed with this product. To start off, it does what it's supposed to. My hair didn't feel burnt after using my hot iron with this spray. However the smell was a turn off. The initial smell was very strong of chemicals. And it got worse as it was heating up with my curler. Also, the spray left my hair feeling sticky and crunchy. It's not a hair spray, my hair shouldn't feel so stiff. Other sprays I've used have left my hair feeling more natural and soft without the smells.

The first time I tried this, I used it on hair day 2. It is oddly sticky to the touch which I was afraid would make my hair crunchy but it didn't. The mist is good enough to spray directly onto your hair and it's well-distributed. My hair held almost too well! I don't think I needed the hairspray. So I decided to try this on hair day 1 (with other products) to see if it helped hold my curls right after a wash and what do you know…it did! I did use hairspray on day 1 but my hair didn't fall as much as usual. If it can protect from the heat and hold that well, this is a game changer. Half of my problem with only washing my hair twice a week is the heat used between washes and how dried out it gets. With this, my hair feels smooth and hydrated, so it seems to be working. I'll buy this for sure and share it with my other 3-day hair friends.

The product leaves a dry feeling on the hair, which does go away when straightening whi the flat iron, but I just don't Ike that feeling on my hair.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have hot tools and dryers but I don't like using them as often cos I only use oils for heat protection and they still feel a little damage. This product actually let me dry and style my hair with ease and it didn't feel too dry and leaves a healthy shine.

After using this product I noticed it turns my natural silver hair yellow . If it's yellow due to heat then this stuff doesn't work for heat protection with curling iron. If it's not the heat it's the product either way om going to have to stop using it .

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I got this not realizing exactly how much of a super hold it has. I sprayed it on my dry hair and then used my flat iron to curl. It made my curls feel so stiff and didnt have the kind of flexibility I would have preferred. It smelled good, and then packing looks nice, but the actual product doesn't suit the way I do my hair. It definitely did keep in my hair and was still holding the next day when I tried my flat iron again. If you are looking for what this product is advertised for, I think you'll love because it has super hold and lasts in your hair for day after touch ups.

It works really well. It has good hold. But can get very stringy if too much is put in. Definitely would recommend using this product. I really like it.
