[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a great gel to use when letting your hair air dry but also works well when blow drying. It doesn't weigh my hair down or dry it out. It is great for frizz control and shine. I gave up on gel a while back because most I have tried would weigh my hair down and become flakey. I can use this gel and not wash my hair for a couple of days and it still doesn't flake! I don't wash my hair everyday and I can use it to define my waves and then brush it the next day and it still looks good. I started using it on my kids hair as well, it holds well and washes out clean. I would definitely recommend this gel to a friend!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received Redken Max Sculpting Gel as a free sample. This is my honest opinion of the product. It is very thick. I was thinking it might make my hair stuff. I used the product, I didn't have to use much because of the thickness. I brushed it through my hair and scrunched my hair with a towel. I ran the hair dryer on it to dry it a little. Surprisingly it doesn't leave my hair feeling crunchy. I even slept on it and the next day it still looked nice. I just put a little water on my hair to get back to the shape I want and wash ready to go. I would recommend using, it should last awhile since you don't have to use much. Thanks for letting me try this.

The gel is easy to apply, is not sticky, does not leave flakes in my hair when it dries and it has held up very well in my hair, even after working a 16 hour shift. I like that my hair does not feel hard, like some strong gels have made my hair feel, and it washes out easily. The only thing I wish this product did better, was giving me more of a wet look, which is the look I prefer. Otherwise, it works great and I am pleased with how the product delivers on what it claims to do.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I tried this gel on wet hair and then blow dried it to see how much hold it would provide. I have fine blonde hair, but using it before blow drying gave it hold, but I need to pull my round brush hard to get the product through the hair. I also tried it while my hair was wet for a slicked back use as suggested. I rubbed it in my hands and flipped my head over and scrunched my hair. It dried with a wet, wavy look that was not as crunchy as other gels I have used. Smelly was pleasant. If your sticking you hair back in a bun or sleek ponytail this works well at keeping fly aways at bay but it does dry shiny so your hair may look like it's dirty if it is a light color.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Redken Max Sculpting Gel that I received to try out was just okay. It has a pleasant smell to it when you open up the cap. It did not flake as it advertised on the container. My feedback would be that it didn't really hold up as well as some other gels that I have tried. I'm not sure what the price point will be but I have tried cheaper gels that have worked better. It did last the whole day which was another plus. If it was just a little firmer of a hold I think it would be worth buying. My rating of a 3 out of 5 was simply because I would buy it if the price point was good. Hold and shaping was average.

It gave my curly hair the perfect amount of hold and shine without looking like I had loads of stiff gel in it. The gel is on the thicker side so I can totally see if someone wanted to use this to sculpt their hair while wet. I also used it to blow my hair out straight and it worked amazingly for that too, it didn't weigh my hair down and gave just the right amount of volume. The best thing about it is it didn't FLAKE!! Highly recommend this Redken Max Sculpting Gel.

I hate in the winter time when I have lots of static in my find long hair. I decided to use this product to help with the static and help style my hair. I love how this product dried quickly and made my hair look wonderful, and ended up taking the static out of it at the same time. this product was also great to take my straight hair and make it curly for when I wanted to dress it up a little bit.

This product is great for my loose no-band braids. I used this hair gel (very little) to keep a grip and hold on my hair, braided then sprayed with Aussie Instant Freeze Hairspray and just let them hang. I don’t use this gel for anything but braids and updos when I need a super strong hold. If you use too much, you will get a sticky feel. The smell is ok - neither good or bad. Unless you have curly hair, I wouldn’t use this just for a regular blow out.

I've been using Redken #16 for more than 8 years now on my thin, fine naturally silver streaked short stacked and layered hair. It adds thickness, shine and allows my style to last for 2-3 days with a minor curling iron touch up. I cannot say enough about this product that I thought you discontinued..but I now buy it from different vendors at a very reasonable price. I stock up...I only use a nickel to shy quarter size as the last product on my hair.

I usually air dry my hair or use a diffuser and have to lock in my curls with a gel or gel cream. This product smelled amazing but the gel iteself made my curls too crunchy and hard. I would have prefered a product similar to this but with a cream base or conditioner lotion in it so soften hair and keep it hydrated as I hate crunchy curls.

No flakes at the end of the day. My curls held in place. I used a lot of gel to hold but so they wet crunchy at first but the more you touch your hair the softer it gets. I give this 5/5. I started having my daughter use the gel too and she's a tan. Keeps her ringlets shape. Love it.

I did a top knot bun and used a touch to slick back my front and neaten up my fly-aways. It worked great! It gave it some shine without looking greasy and did not get that straw-like look most gels give my hair. I love the smell too. The key is just using a touch with a spritz of water. Lasted all day.

It just stays on a glob at the top regardless of how much scrunching you do. I ended up with some pieces of hair looking wet and hard and others looking dry and frizzy. My hair felt crunchy and flaky by the end of the day. It's a decent product but definitely not worth the price.

I just started using Hardwear 16 after having spent years loving your Thickening Lotion 06. It's GREAT, so long as I don't use TOO MUCH... it can be drying and dulling if I do that. However.....

I used Redken's Water Wax 03 since it was introduced and until it was recently discontinued. It was the perfect product for my hair for shine and hold and it wasn't sticky! I have tried the recommended Redken replacements and tried SO many other products on the market but none of them even hold a candle to Water Wax. PLEASE, PLEASE PLEASE bring it back!

Redken is my favorite product line. I have used it for many years. I have tried other brands however I keep returning to Redken. I apply it liberally and soak my hair with this and then blow dry it in. I follow up with a texture product. I used to use redkin rewind but stopped because they changed the formula. But... this product is a great base product to give lifeless thin hair some volume, structure, and control without flaking.

I too am very disappointed that Concrete 22 is discoed. I cannot find anything that holds my hair like it did and Hardware 16 is by all means no comparison.... It was light weight, not heavy and did not make your hair look dirty and it held hard to hold hair... loved it ...Please bring it back!!!

I have used Hardware 16 for many years. Last one I purchased smells different and I think hold is not as good. I compared ingredients on prior tube and see different ingredients and newest one made in US and/or imported ingredients. Older tube says Made in USA. The old formula was better!

I cannot day enough great things about this product. I have thick, coily hair with lots of frizz and this is one of the only gels that can keep my edges down. It is a little more expensive than mainstream drugstore gels, but it lasts FOREVER! I have been using for years and cannot get enough.

I used #16 for YEARS! This Max Sculping Gel has given me the worst case of dandruff I have ever had. I NEVER had dandruff with #16 Something has caused my head to break out with many bumps and red scalp along with terrible dandruff. This product is dangerous .

It fried my hair gave me a color chemical burn. My hair has never gotten damaged from using shades eq this was my 1st time using shades eq plus bonder . My hair strand elasticity strength is weak and breaks off and coils back crunchy , it feels like gum
I used it as directed and I don’t have any medications and it felt horrible while I rinsed it with just water before I used my vegan shampoo
It’s been a horrible experience, I’ve been using non permanent hair color for a couple years now to regrow natural healthy hair. And now my entire hair strand is damaged. I contacted redken directly and the rep was rude and kept talking about herself and how she’s a chemist and she burns her hair off and blah blah blah. Very rude I’m literally in shock .

Mixed it exactly as was described using 2 bonder colors (9V and 10GRo), 000 crystal clear, and the processing solution. Applied to clean, dry hair and left it on for 20 minutes. May hair looks like I just left the salon. It is shiny, soft and the color is exactly what I was looking for. I realize doing a home hair color job is not always recommended and can be done incorrectly, but I followed all the directions and it came out perfect.

DREADFUL PRODUCT!!

I used the product a week ago. It made my hair extremely, dry, fizzy and stiff -- more like straw than hair. I to correct the situation by using deep conditioner, mask, your 25 Benefits One United in an attempt to reverse the damage/condition -- no improvement. I couldn't be more upset, worried, unhappy and at loss as to how to restore my hair to its previous state..
No, I do not recommend this product.

Crap product

I used the shades eq gloss and the gel product with it and my hair is HORRIBLE now. The color is cute but my gorgeous soft long hair is freaking straw now. I can’t even wear it down it’s so staticky. Redken ruined my hair
