My hair is color treated, dry and frizzy so I usually shy away from heat styling my hair. I gave the Play safe heat protectant a try and I was amazed with the results. My hair looked so much smoother and shinier and it helped to preserve my curls. The bottle has a pump style dispenser and you can just take out exactly as much as you need. You can use it up to 450• F without any stress or worry. I used 2-3 pumps and generously applied all over my hair before blow drying. The formula is lightweight and doesn't make your hair greasy or heavy. I confidently blow dried my hair after application without worrying about damaging my hair. It felt shiny, soft and lightweight. My hair didn't get tangled our break off while blow drying. I think my hair has finally found its magic potion! I will definitely continue to use and buy the Play Safe 450 and style my hair with confidence. Don't worry and give it a try…you definitely won't regret! I will also recommend it to my friends and family to give this magic potion a try. I'm sure they will be as happy as I am. Try it to believe it!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] As someone who is prone to split ends and hair, pulling out when I style, I am constantly on the lookout for a product that will help prevent these things from happening. When I style my hair with a blow dryer or a flattening iron I need something to protect my strands, this product helps to protect your hair up to 450°F… It creates a safety net between you and your styling tool. I have used this product when I straight ironed my hair. I also have use this product alone as a general curl styling product , since it has so many amazing properties to it that helps to protect your hair. I am out in the sun very often and figured that it couldn't hurt to apply something to my hair that would help protect it from heat damage… Even after being out for hours in the sun, my hair was not fried and frizzy on the top as it usually gets when I have too much sun exposure. My hair still felt smooth and manageable at the end of the day. I did not use any gel or any other styling product… Only this and it really surprisingly kept my hair in great status, even when I was doing a lot outdoors in the sun. I like the fact that this product is multipurpose and I can use it for all different scenarios of hairstyling… Whether I am going au natural or using a heated styling tool, I know that this extreme play leave in will help my hair stay manageable!

I have tried sprays that sit in your hair when you use them but not ones you put on after you wash your hair. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have had a bad experience with trying to find a leave-in hair treatment. Most products are too goopy, making your hair look stiff or oily. When I first tried the product, I thought I was dealing with the same problems. I showered and used a pump of the product on my damp hair. When my hair dried, it was stiff and sticky all day. The next day I tried it again and ensured my hair was barely wet and used about half a pump of product. My hair was soft all day, with no stiffness, and my hair was easy to work with and style. I had the same experience for the next several days and noticed that my hair had less breakage and seemed fuller and smoother than before.

I have never tried this brand before but after using this product i can definitely say they make some awesome products. The extreme play safe made my hair feel extra soft after using, blow drying and flat ironing. Usually products like this make my hair look greasy or flat but this product did the exact opposite. I received this item for free to review at the perfect timing. I've never used heat protectant when blow drying my hair and have been using this. I noticed that my hair didn't feel as damaged after and less frizzy. There was also more hydration then without it. I am trying the whole set so it could be the whole set working together.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I hadn't used many Redken products before trying this - I have wavy hair with lots of volume (I.e. frizz) so I tend to be very particular about styling products. I usually use Kristin Ess blow dry spray or the Beauty Protector line. But this product so delivered. Appreciated that it called out a specific heat protection level - 450 degrees. It gave my hair softness and body and avoided any heavy or greasy feeling. Soft, controlled hair is no easy feat with my waves. The scent was subtle - a clean, sweet scent. Really happy with this as an everyday styling tool - and knowing it's protecting my hair, too!

But Redken Extreme Play Safe is the best heat protectant. It does not have a strong smell, it leaves hair smooth and not oily and it does not leave build up. My sister used it and she like it too. She wanted to buy it, but when she searched online, she did not find any store that sells it.

I really love that it makes my hair smell great! The product is a nice smooth texture that easily blends into my hair. I tried it on it's own first, and while my hair was protected from my straightener, it didn't make my hair LOOK any different. I've been using Extreme Play Safe in addition to my normal products and I've been very impressed. This is a great product to add to your lineup for heat protection and scent. There is no fragrant smell and it's very creamy . I use heating tools often and this is a must have! One of the things that I love most is that it leaves my hair feeling very silky and hydrated, not crunchy or greasy like a lot of others. Because of that, this can even be used without heat in my opinion. I like to use it on days when I air dry my hair because it makes my hair feel more conditioned, soft, and even helps define my waves. It has a subtle scent that is really nice and fresh. This is one of those products that I couldn't recommend more, and definitely plan on purchasing again when I run out!

Love it feels very light weight as k apply it after washing my hair I then use my round brush to smooth my hair n tge flat iron my hair. I love having wild colors so I don't want to give up coloring, but I need some way to tame the frizz from my broken hair. The only way to make my hair look decent is to flat iron it every day. I love that the Redken extreme play safe does double duty! I can just skip the conditioner (which often makes my roots greasy) and just apply this product after shampooing. It provides conditioning and also protects against heat. It's perfect. The only reason I am removing a star is that it makes my hair a little sticky and hard to brush through. My towel-dried hair quickly soaks it up and it's easy to apply too much. So the trick is to apply sparingly. If you put on too much, you will definitely feel it coat your hair. I kind of wish the product was a little more diluted or would come in a spray bottle. But overall, I would recommend this product for people who want a heat protector and conditioner in one step.

I used to tried the shampoo and conditioner at the same line , they're ok But with this product, it makes my hair more dry and hard to comb. Just tried it for 3 days and have to stop. The smell similar to shampoo and conditioner, nothing difference but the texture is more thick.

I have really fine hair and sometimes products can weigh my hair down when they are meant to protect it. The first time I tried this Redken product, I used too much and it weighed my hair down. It was also really humid outside, which didn't help. I learned one pump was enough to use on my fine hair - I rake it through my hair when it's about 70% dry and it works so well that it gives me second day hair! My hair stays straight for two days in a row, even in really hot, humid weather. I love this product!!
